Journal of Interactive and Intelligent Learning

As generative artificial intelligence and adaptive intelligent agents become deeply integrated into educational contexts, we are confronting a challenge that extends beyond the instrumental discourse of technology-enhanced teaching, ushering in an ontological inquiry into human-machine coexistence and the generation of wisdom. The breakthroughs in large language models and multimodal interaction are propelling intelligent learning from unidirectional content delivery toward bidirectional dynamic negotiation. In this era of rapidly advancing technological intelligence, how can human-in-the-loop collaboration maintain both the adaptive precision of algorithms and safeguard learner agency, rather than leading to cognitive outsourcing? This has become a core contemporary proposition spanning pedagogy, computer science, and cognitive science.
At this critical juncture of paradigm shift, the Journal of Interactive and Intelligent Learning (JIIL) was founded. The journal aims to explore the underlying mechanisms through which "interaction" and "intelligence" mutually stimulate each other. We contend that true interaction is not merely superficial interface clicking, but rather deep cognitive dialogue, emotional perception intervention, and embodied interaction facilitated by intelligent media, designed to activate learners' metacognitive monitoring. True intelligence, likewise, is not solely reflected in model scale and predictive accuracy, but in deep perception of complex learning contexts, explainability of cognitive evolution, and the extension of human-machine collaborative paradigms.
"Enlighten education through intelligence, and reach far through interaction."
As a highly interdisciplinary frontier, JIIL is committed to breaking down disciplinary silos and building a dialogue platform that bridges technological development and educational mechanisms. We focus not only on breakthroughs in generative AI, intelligent tutoring systems, and data mining, but also encourage prudent research from the dimensions of learning psychology and educational ethics. We firmly believe that in an era of rapid technological change, only by re-embracing humanistic perspectives and adhering to the foundational principles of education can intelligent media truly become a vehicle for liberating cognitive potential and fostering holistic development, rather than a constraint that alienates the educational process.
JIIL stands ready to join hands with scholars around the world, upholding rigorous academic ethics and peer review standards, to collectively elucidate the scientific logic of human-machine collaborative learning, and to co-create a new vision for human-machine symbiotic education in the digital age.
