Journal of Interactive and Intelligent Learning (JIIL) is an international peer‑reviewed, gold open access journal dedicated to advancing the science and practice of interactive learning systems, human-AI collaboration in education, and intelligent technologies for learning. We publish original research, critical reviews, and case studies that reflect the evolving landscape of interactive and intelligent learning environments.

Core Areas of Interest

Interactive Learning Systems

Adaptive learning environments, interactive tutoring systems, and learner engagement technologies.

Human-AI Collaboration in Learning

AI-assisted learning, intelligent tutoring, human-AI interaction, and pedagogical agents for interactive learning.

Learning Analytics & Educational Data Mining

Predictive modeling, student success analytics, behavioral analysis, and learning process visualization.

Cognitive Computing & Learning Sciences

Computational models of cognition, neural-symbolic learning, and human-like reasoning in educational contexts.

Human-Computer Interaction for Learning

Multimodal interfaces, tangible learning technologies, VR/AR for education, and inclusive design for learning.

Ethics & Policy in Intelligent Learning

Algorithmic fairness in education, data privacy, responsible AI, and policy frameworks for intelligent learning systems.

Interdisciplinary Mission

Journal of Interactive and Intelligent Learning actively encourages contributions that bridge multiple domains. We are particularly interested in work that:

  • Combines interactive learning design with AI technologies
  • Integrates learning sciences into computational system design
  • Applies data science methods to educational research
  • Examines cross-cultural perspectives on interactive and intelligent learning
  • Addresses ethical, social, and policy dimensions of AI in education
We welcome both conceptual and empirical studies, and we are open to innovative formats such as design-based research, implementation case studies, and practice‑based reports.
